Dr. Anthony D’Ambrosio

Dr. D’Ambrosio received his undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he graduated with honors as a member of Phi Beta Kappa Academic Honor Society and Golden Key National Honor Society. He was then awarded his doctorate from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine where he also graduated with honors. At Vanderbilt, Dr. D’Ambrosio is a member of Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Medical Honors Society.

Dr. D’Ambrosio then began his career at Columbia University, serving as an intern with the Department of Surgery. He was then a Rosenak/Cohen Research Fellowship with the Cerebrovascular Laboratory at Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons at Columbia University.  Dr. D’Ambrosio then served as the resident physician and then chief resident with the Department of Neurological Surgery. He completed his education at Tampa General Hospital as a Cerebrovascular and Skull Base Fellow.

Dr. D’Ambrosio focuses his clinical practice on benign brain tumors, trigeminal neuralgia and hemifacial spasm. He has expertise in a variety of complex surgical and radiosurgical techniques intended to successfully treat complex diseases of the brain. These techniques include micro-neurosurgery, microvascular decompression surgery and Gamma Knife radiosurgery.

Throughout his professional career, Dr. D’Ambrosio has been a member of various professional societies and has held multiple appointments. He was a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, and the Acoustic Neuroma Association of New Jersey.  He served as Columbia Executive Committee’s Resident Representative, an assistant professor of Neurological Surgery at the College of Physicians and Surgeons at Columbia University.

Dr. D’Ambrosio is currently active as the Director of Neurosurgery and Co-Director of the Gamma Knife Center at The Valley Hospital. In addition to his work at The Neurosurgeons of New Jersey, Dr. D’Ambrosio is a Diplomate of the American Board of Neurological Surgeons. He has authored over 25 peer-reviewed journals and six book chapters.
